Well it's raining now and most of the weekend, apparently.
I've had a call to my cousin whose adopted son is a father for the first time. I think the infant is first cousin twice removed.

He is still in the excellent care of both his parents, so is only removed by a couple of generations. !st cousins are the children of your parents' siblings, second cousins the children of grandparents' siblings and so on. Genealogy is a hobby I have followed for many years, and have met relatives on the same or similar search. I did once make the mistake of asking at a family wedding how my brother in law was related to his cousins. His sister was encyclopaedic on the subject, and I lost her in the half-generation steps. It is an Irish family that stretches across decades, with children of one sibling being older than the younger siblings of the same parents. Not all Irish families are the same though.
My cleaners have been, just in time to make the place respectable before the chiropodist calls this afternoon. I got a message a few moments ago reminding me of an appointment with the Dental hygienist tomorrow. An excuse to get out, post letters, take a walk in the rain and sun etc. The car is behaving well if you don't count the windows steaming up. The repairers appear to have removed the impacted leaves in the fan mechanism so it's a bit quieter now.

No cleaners here.... But you would know that if you'd seen my house.
No removed cousins... but there is an ... anomoly. Mum's Sister (aka, one of my Aunt's) had two Fostered Children, twin Brother and Sister. This would have been started years ago, before the war. The outfit that was in charge of fostering, Barnado, controlled to the extent that the Boy, as a teenager, was enrolled into the army, and The girl was found work far away (A stable Girl in Norfolk). I actually met her, Which I referred to as a Cousin, which of course she is not, but I have met her, lastly as ny Aunts Funeral. The Anomoly is that in the 1930's and indeed, still into My Mum time of being a fosterer (Not Barnado), single Women could not be Fosterers. The Aunt did invite my sister (i.e. My non-sister, but The girl that my mum fostered), as she (Aunt) was still a registered Foster carer???
I was panicking a little earlier. My Hospital Procedure was set for 8th, but at a pre assessment they found that I would need someone with me overnight after the actual procedure and assumed that I was not alone, so all was cancelled. Thus the cancellations and then reinstated but with a new pre-ssessment appointment, but uncertaincy about the pre-op-covid test. - there was a possibility that it can be done at my local Hospital aftter my pre assessment. Thus I have been awaiting a phone call. But I couldn't find my phone .. Panic.
So I ransacked in all the likely places, because I distinctly remember taking my phone upstairs last night...
After an hour or so I heard "ringing".... Coming from the Laundry box, where I'd left Yesterdays shirt - one of the few Shirts that actually haveva pocket!
I'd better arrange a Taxi to another Hospital for the Corvid test in the next town - I must be masked, taken from Home to Hospital, be tested in the taxi, then brought home without stepping out of the taxi.

Hope you are OK ...
Sorry - I'm a bit "out-of-touch" at present. (Back from Hospital, but trying to get hold of The Community Matron. No, I've never heard of one either - I think that she is The Officer Commanding of several GP attached Nurses in this Council Area.
You sent your last post twice ... did you intend to say something different?

Yes, I'm fine. I had a post on screen that I thought I had forgotten to post. Just a gremlin.
Maybe the Community Matron is whizzy idea to raise standards in community public health. But they're pushing on an open door in my limited experience District nurses are very highly qualified and excellent in every way. My auntie became one after training at Barts, then joining Queen Alexandra's for the duration of WWII. I hope your recovery from treatment is going well. Did your corvid test reveal you are not a crow or even a Raven?

Hi Rwth...
Have you yet faced the "New Peets" Mustard posts? Actually "Successor to Peets" might be more accurate, but I seem to find many Lost contacts, so it's a good move.
It is beginning to look that The Community Matron is not Directly involved with The Hospital but is Employed by the Local Council, but works with GP's and Sundry "Help Agencies" (Age Concern, Family Mosaic, Peabody, Provide, etc), But She certainly has access to Medical records.
However... When I left Hospital Last week, i was given a Copy of Hospital Discharge Document sent to GP, and their specialist Nursey, whoever she is? Community Matron has found NO record of any Document being sent to GP - The latter also knows nothing of me being in hospital, and thus, nor knows of discharged.
I was involved with Age Concern some time ago (albeit their Essex version of the National Age Concern), but they in turn, have "Sub contracted" another Help Agency with "Peabody"" regarding another matter to which they were better ... Just to confuse you even more, Peabody is the Successoors of the "Help Agency" that The Hospital sent to me some yrars ago after my "Stroke".
Peabody (aka Laura) has pieced together various "working from home" Secretaties, ending on Fri evening a phone call to me from Pannicky Hospital Night shift Ward-Sister resending the document that SHOULD? have been sent on the day of my discharge (09/10/2020). That Document required prompt attention from the specialist Nurse. The saintly Laura is already chasing them up (Hospital, Community Matron, GP, Specialist nurse...) , and will call me on "start of business" on Momday to see what they are all doing
The problem (without going into the Gory details) is that I have some "equipment" is attached to me that was installed in Hospital at the days closing down time, and a fresh new device to fit (normally next day, but it was a Friday night????). Now getting uncomfortable.
I'm either going to have learn to type. or get new glasses

nHello GLO
Yes I'm fully engaged with New Peets but haven't posted there much. I see a fair number of people I haven't seen since Sues came to a horrible halt.
Age Concern amalgamated with another organisation to become Age UK, but I don't think it is as good as either of the previous versions. The lack of communication with the GP is pretty awful, and I have contacted my GP on discharge to keep themin the loop. The Occupational Therapist sent equipment to my home even though it wasn't needed. I got the depot to pick it up as soon as, but because it was a week later, I salved everyone's feelings by just saying thanks for the loan, but I had found it useful in the meantime. A lie, but it didn't hurt anyone. I'm glad the saintly Laura is healing the breaches and getting you sorted out. Yes I can guess what you mean. I think it's a solution that helps 5% of patients but is annoying to the others.
My favourite Peabody is Amelia Peabody, a Victorian/Edwardian lady who gets involved with Egyptian Archaeology and a husband with whom they produce an embarrassing and brilliant child prodigy who gets in and out of hair raising situations. Rather like his parents. The writer is Elizabeth Peters.

Hi again, Rwth...
For some Reason, Essex was separated from Age Concern some years ago, when a Basildon MP had set up A Basildon (and later, bigger bits of Essex) that Age Concern directed me to that Age Concern did not cover; based inone of the Old Peoples Club/evening school/Trips etc which itself caries the name of Counciller who set up hobbies for the "Elderly" when Basildon was known as Commission for the New Town, independent then, from Borough and County Status/Politics.
I didn't know the origins of the current outfit. They call it Age UK Essex. They do seem to dirrect one to other outfits within or without their Balliwick - Their Legal outfit, and theitr initial telephone contact, is in an Office Block in Chelmsford Industrial Area. The Bod I ebcountered has been helpful with the financial benefits to state/utilities/council etc, but He on a personal matter He is involved with other outfits - in a couple of days per week He does shopping for the housebound.
He also got me involved on some matter to Peabody that was better qualified in that particular matter (*Peabody" have some access to Local Council after they merged with another outfit that was called "Family Mosaic" - The latter was one directed to me by NHS after I was discharged from Hospital after my Stroke).
My reservation about then is ..... Well, go back to 1950.. My Parents "Fosterred" children, usually on a temp basis, but had originted when we lived in London, but seemed to be run by a London Borough (not the one we lived in? but remained involved until The London Boroughs - and indeed the Borders that formed Greater London were all enlarged), but The New London Borough perpetuated. That Council did work for many children from "Peabody Homes" and pandered to Peabody. Thus assorted Kids were obliged to gather their Children - I remember a Drunken Slob of a Parent demanded (and got) all of His Children - irrespective of which Mother - Spend Time with Him. ( I remember Mum Crying when they departed) When The Council's Bod redirstributed them back to their respective homes with Drunken Slob in attendance who Loudly proclaimed to one of the Boys "He is the best of them, The Priest says that He Prays Best". I also remember two other Boys stayed with us for a short time, whem Peabody wanted them back to their own home because their Mum was now capable ... Mum kept a press cutting from one on the London Evening Papers - of the Younger of the two brothers drowned in one of the London Docks. That is my reservations re Peabody

I blame it on the state of Sociology, and paternalistic politics. Many of these organisations were responsible for protecting their finances, the Board's backs and the children last of all. Their standards of parenting assessment were too prescriptive for happiness. Supervised Access is a wonderful tool to restrict drunken slobs and coercive controllers from getting away with polished interviews, while giving the children some contact with a parent who may have limited parenting assets. Many of the fostering volunteers are real heroes, but some are married to abusers. Other children's officers don't seem to see where a child is happy and move them about for arbitrary reasons.
It's a lovely day today and because communications are good, I'm rushed off my feet. I was going to write to one of my penfriends today, but so many things have happened this morning that I'm rushed off my feet.
